Myths & facts about organic farming

Myth :

Chemical farming activists are saying that, If all the farmers in India started doing organic farming, yields will decline suddenly. As a Result, we will get food crisis. Food Security problems will arise.

Fact :

India is having total cultivable / arable land of 394 million acres. Total india population is 1400 million. So, 394 / 1400 = 0.28 acres of agricultural land is available per each person. Many researchers, scientists, common sense etc are saying that each person requires only 5 cents ( 0.05 acre ) to have 3 meals a day. Let’s say, due to Organic farming - yields fell down by 1/2. Even though, per person we need only 10 cents.

But we had 2.8 times more agricultural land, than we actually needed. And we didn’t included terrace gardening & hydroponics. Managing post harvest losses, having control over the area of cultivation of different crops, conventional cultivation practices and few other aspects. By managing these things, we can easily feed 3000 million population.

Myth :

Yields in organic farming are lower than chemical farming.

Fact :

In 1970, 1 kg Fertilizer produced 13 kg Grain.

In 2010, 1 kg Fertilizer produced 4 kg Grain.

Grain Production Declined by 3.25 Times in last 40 Years.

Fertilizer Consumption increased 3.25 Times in last 40 Years.

From 1950 To 2010, Fertilizer consumption had increased by 8 Times.

Myth :

You can’t supply enough nutrients to crop by using composts

Fact :

Fertilizers can’t supply full nutrition. Plant is Made of Pancha Buthas, not Fertilizers.

Example : tomato Yields 15 - 30 Tons / Acre in Good Conditions. Farmers feed the crop with 350 - 400 kg Fertilizer.

Are we thaaaaaaat mad to believe - 400 kg Fertilizer produced 20,000 kg Vegetable.

Its 50 Times by weight. Plant’s Leaves - Twigs - fruits are made by the nature. 5 elements - earth, air, water, cosmos, heat are collectively manufacturing the crops. With Just Fertilizer, we cannot supply the fullest nutrition to crops. There are 1000’s of unnamed nutrients that supplied by the humus in mother soil.
